Canada Conduct it's first Express Entry draw of 2023

The first set of invites for all programs was sent today, the first since the Express Entry draw on November 23.

The first Express Entry draw in Canada since November 23 was held today. It was the first of the year.

5,500 applicants with a basic Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 507 received invites from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Candidates who met the requirements were invited from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The Express Entry mechanism is used by all of these programs.

The number of ITAs given in this draw has increased, making it the biggest all-program Express Entry draw since they commenced in July of last year. There were 750 more invitations sent out than the 4,750 candidates who were invited in the draw on November 23, and the CRS score was higher than it has been since the draw on September 28.

2022: Express Entry

For Express Entry, this year was exceptional. According to ministerial directives, Express Entry applicants received 46,538 ITAs during the course of the 23 drawings in 2022. This figure covers draws conducted between January and July just for participants in Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Beginning in December 2020, all-program Express Entry draws were suspended for a period of more than 18 months. Due to COVID-19-related travel limitations, there was a backlog in applications, which is what prompted the delay. Only PNP or CEC applicants received invites to apply during this time (ITAs). However, the IRCC also stopped doing lotteries for the CEC in September 2021.

Express Entry is preparing for modifications

In the second part of 2022, IRCC laid the groundwork for the adjustments that Express Entry users might anticipate in 2023. An upgraded version of NOC 2016 was adopted by IRCC, for instance, in November. Express Entry candidates' professions and skill levels are determined using the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system.

The IRCC switched from classifying skills as 0-D levels to a system based on education, training, experience, and responsibilities (TEER). The skill levels 0-E of NOC 2016 have been updated by the new TEER system, which also generated five TEERS that are equivalent. In accordance with NOC 2021, 16 new professions are now qualified to apply for Express Entry-managed economic immigration programs like the CEC or FSWP.
